US VISA INTERVIEW FAQ:

Why do I need interview to obtain a U.S. Visa?
After 9/11 the U.S government introduced US visa appointments as one of the policies to protect America from terrorist attacks. Since 2002 the US government have made visa interviews obligatory for all visa applicants. All non-immigrant applicants need to attend an interview before obtaining a US visa.

Do I need to have valid emergency medical insurance to obtain US visa?
It is not obligatory, but very advisable to purchase emergency medical insurance as OHIP and other provincial health plans do not cover you while you are in the US. Consider the following: A four-day stay in a U.S. hospital for an appendectomy could cost $39,400 (USD), with only $1,600 (CAD) covered by your GHIP. A one-day stay in a U.S. hospital for a broken arm and wrist could cost $32,600 (USD), with only $400 (CAD) covered by your GHIP. If you do not have this insurance already it would be wise to order it now by clicking on the button below:

If I will only be transiting in the U.S., do I need a visa?
Yes, U.S has stringent measures upon all entry points. If your country of citizenship is not a member of Visa Waiver Program, you will need to obtain a U.S. Entry visa even for transit. Canadian, Mexican and Bermudan passport holders are exempt from holding a US visa to enter the United States, although Mexican citizens may have to apply for a border crossing card. Please check the chart below to see if you are U.S. Visa exempted.
